Ingredients
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup water
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the chickpea flour, baking powder, salt, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Add the chopped onions and water to the bowl and stir until the batter is just combined.
- Heat a few inches of vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain the bhajis on paper towels and serve immediately.
