Manchester City put on a dominant display in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash, thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva stole the show with a brace, scoring in the 23rd and 37th minutes to give City a commanding 2-0 halftime lead. Swiss defender Manuel Akanji extended the lead in the 76th minute, before substitute Julian Alvarez added the icing on the cake with a goal in the 90th minute.
The victory seals City's progression to the Champions League final with an aggregate score of 5-1. They will face the winner of the other semi-final between Liverpool and AC Milan on June 10th in Istanbul.
City's performance was a far cry from their subdued display in the first leg, where they managed a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The hosts controlled possession throughout the match and created numerous scoring opportunities, while Real Madrid struggled to find their rhythm.
Pep Guardiola's side will now turn their attention to the Premier League title race, where they hold a slender one-point lead over Arsenal with two games remaining. They will face Aston Villa away on Sunday before wrapping up their campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad on May 28th.
